It Was an Honor Just Being Nominated...

Well, Marissa1413 didn't win Artist of the Week. Artsonia did send a printable certificate for her for being in the running. I'm sure that will delight her. Thanks for your votes!

Hi Jodi,
I'm a first year teacher and I'm really interested in Artsonia for my students. How do you get your parents involved with following their childs' art? Do you take photographs of every students' work? It seems like a lot of work, but I'd really like to start. Maybe I should start it next year in the beginning of the school year. Anyways, any help you could provide would be great! Thanks! Pam

Oh, Pam, do it!! You won't regret it. It is a lot of work, but parent volunteers can help curb that. Last year they did it ALL for me! Your students will have so much more pride in their work, and their families/friends can leave them supportive comments. The site has a premade permission form (which I revised a little), which includes a spot for parents' email addresses. Once that's in the site, they get an email whenever there is an update to their child's account. You will find they get involved quickly. There are also "activity reports" that you can send home that update them on the latest artwork, fan club members, comments, etc. Try it with just a project or two-or maybe a specific grade level-your youngest (so you are saving yourself work for next year!), and see how you like it. I highly reccomend it!
